Why Do You Cry, Soldier?

Oh, why do you have tears in your eyes, soldier?
When for you all the people are standing to cheer.
Is it the death of your best friend in the war?
You know the future looks so good so far.
Or is it because when you were gone, your mother
In her sleep, left the world peacefully forever?
Oh why do you cry, strong soldier so silently?
Is it because your lass never wrote you a letter,
And when you return it has become bitter?
Because she married someone not waited for you,
And you lost your belief in love that’s true?
Oh, soldier, the tears you cry are flowing like a river,
The war has been fought and you are the winner-
None has more reasons to cry than you, my friend.
Scares are forever and will last till the end.
